Corporate Talks and Workshops/Seminars
In recent years there has been much interest in using Jon and I as motivational speakers and increasingly our 'Hostage Expertise' is in demand by organisations that have employees working in High Risk situations. Thus Jon and I have devised an experiential workshop/seminar focussing on coping and survival strategies that we facilitate alongside our illustrated talk.

"I piloted the training in Somaliland and the Somali ladies absolutely loved it - several comments in the evaluation forms saying how moved they were but also informed and quite empowered and inspired by you."

"Part of our Resistance Training Instructors' Course teaches aspects of coping skills and strategies and your practical presentation and the 'audience participation' of my trainees was a powerful vindication of their usefulness; everybody present commented on the great value of the workshop. High quality presentations such as yours are invaluable in supporting the aims of the course."
Rob James, Lieutenant Commander Royal Navy. Defence SERE Training Organisation.
Comments from Canadian Forces Instructors, Conduct After Capture Training Programme:
- From a psychological perspective, it was interesting to learn which strategies the former captives used while in captivity and the how their personality and attitude (resilience factors)where adapted to their circumstance.
- As a participant in the CAC training, which requires specific expertise, attending this presentation was relevant and enlightening.
- The information acquired from this session will aid in improving the presentation on resilience.
- The format of the presentation worked very well as it utilized each aspect, such as visual support, question period and exercises, exceptional. The only portion which could be altered would the time allowed to questions.
- Being able to purchase the book on site was an excellent initiative. It could be a good idea to inform participants ahead of time of this possibility to ensure they bring the necessary amount with them.
- Nothing beats hearing hostage survivors recount their personal experience to better integrate the impact of such events on human beings and the usefulness of coping strategies.
- Being able to talk with the presenters on a 1 on 1 during the breaks provided an interesting alternative to possibly more sensitive/personal questions.
- From a medical standpoint, what was interesting was how the meditation and holistic approach helped them "stay healthy" while in captivity and are now essential in their recovery/treatment.
